Bhavana P, 19 years old, was born and brought up in Bangalore. Her father works in a small office, and her mother is a housewife. The father, being the only breadwinner in the family, was not able to provide everything for his family. Bhavana’s family struggled to lead a life with an individual income. Her father used to encourage her education. So, she knew the pain and hard work of her father. She learned to accept and adjust to the situation.

Bhavana was active in school and was considered a good student in her studies. She studied in a government school till her 10th grade. Thereafter, she completed her PU with distinction. She then went to pursue her studies and joined a degree college, where she completed her first year. In the second year of her degree, the family was going through a severe financial problem. But her father had a dream that she should complete her graduation. So, he was able to pay her fees with the help of the education loan.

Seeing her father struggle, Bhavana decided to search for a part-time job. so that she can help pay off the education loan. But she did not have the necessary skills, and many firms refused to recruit her. So, she enrolled herself at the Reaching Hand’s Pratishtha centre. She started her course in September 2021.

During the course, she learned life skills, career skills, digital skills, and core employability skills. The webinar organised by Reaching Hand helped her gain knowledge about financial literacy, job readiness, and how to tackle an interview. She says she is glad that she got this opportunity to do this course.

Bhavana and her family are now happy that she is able to pay her own college fees. She is confident that after obtaining her degree, she will be able to secure a career at a reputed company.
